Use satin paint for painting and decorating interior walls, practically gives us only advantages. But like everything, you also have your small flaws. So we wanted to make a small breakdown on advantages and disadvantages that satin paint can bring when painting walls with it.
Canvas wall painted with satin
First of all, I would like to put the satin color where it belongs, so as not to confuse it with another type of finish. Satin color is in the middle, between matte color and glossy color. And even if it has a shine, satin color is not a color for shine. In fact, if we go to any paint store and ask for a bright color, it will give us just that, not a satin color. Yes, satin color has a little shine, but it is not a color for shine, because I hear or read a lot there.
From the various advantages or positive qualities it has satin color, from my point of view, it is the best it is washable. This does not mean that the wall can be soaked, but it has a high degree of washing. Of course, the color brand also plays a role. A low quality brand will generally offer poorer quality than a high quality brand.
Another feature that should be highlighted in this picture is that it turns vivid colors into even more vibrant ones. For example, the pink mid-tone color in a satin finish has nothing to do with the matte finish.
Simply put, this type of finish brings a lot more beauty to the color itself.
If we are going to use this type of finish, it is best to use it with vivid colors like pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, red, etc. This is not to say that other colors don’t perform well with this type of finish, but not as well as the ones mentioned above.
As an example of what I mean, dirty white, ivory, beige or any cream shade won’t look as good in a satin finish as a brighter color could.
For that reason, it is recommended to use the final layer, if it is satin, in cheerful colors in medium and strong tones.
Another good quality of this type of finish is that it is ideal for small spaces such as a bedroom or a small room.
By bringing a certain brightness, the light will bounce more off the walls, making the bedroom seem bigger and brighter. It is not advisable to paint all the walls with this finish as this could be counterproductive.
But we can dye the fabric with satin color to give the whole space more brightness and brightness.
And another advantage of satin color that I would like to mention is that it is ideal for places where we want to achieve an elegant decoration.
Thanks to the shine, this color becomes a perfect ally for decorating an elegant environment, mostly of a classic nature.
As for the flaws or shortcomings of satin color, there is not much to say. First of all, and something very obvious, is that if you don’t like glossy or glossy finishes, satin color is not the color for you.
And the biggest disadvantage of this paint is that it wears gloss, easily highlights flaws and imperfections on the walls.
So, if we are going to paint a smooth wall with satin paint, we have to make sure that there are no flaws or imperfections, because it will highlight them even more, making them much more visible.
For example, if we have a hotel in our house and we have had enough. It would not be good to paint with satin color, as this will further enhance the effect of the hotel.
Here we can see the differences between matte, satin, glossy and lacquered colors.
