One of my weaknesses are decorative architectural posters, plans of anything, whether it be furniture, buildings or objects, as well as engineering plans, as well as sketches, produced by computers or, of course, prints of old patents. I love them, and luckily, today I discovered the wonderful online store Displate which fortunately is also shipped to Spain, where they have hundreds of these beautiful and inspiring posters or decorative sheets that I am talking about.
Among the many categories available in the store, the only one that caught my attention is the Engineering category, where you can see several subcategories, from which I would take all the posters or decorative sheets, because they are from real patent items, such as the bike we see above line or one we can see below:
One of the first patented sewing machines, with design date, patent number and signature of the creator and patent office, in white, on black vintage.
One of the first patented «modern» cameras, with the same style of printing.
Famous LEGO pieces, also drawn in white on black.
Or, such curious items, such as a toilet paper patent, also in the same style.
These are some of the prints or posters that belong to the Vintage Patents collection. But there is another category in which we can see legendary patent posters, such as Nikola Tesla’s AC motor:
Or the design of the first LEGO doll:
First toilet or toilet:
Or, also, the first headphones:
In fact, and this is the most beautiful, they have more than 500 patents of real objects, where you can see designs of all kinds, which allows you to meet the requirements of anyone, no matter what hobby you have, whether you are a fan of photography. , musical instruments, tools, games, beverages, aeronautical engineering or any other object.
If ours are not real objects, they also have plans and patents for fictional objects, very, very interesting, like the famous USS Enterprise, from Star Trek:
Or the mythical DeLorean from Back to the Future:
Or, also, from the popular TARDIS by Doctor Who:
An authentic poster pass for all types of fans; And this is just the tip of the iceberg. I was also amazed by the sketches of designer furniture icons, where we can see such iconic pieces as the Ball Chair Eero Aarnio.
Arne Jacobsen egg chair.
Iconic armchair from Charles Eames.
Or, also from Eames, the popular plastic rocking chairs these days RAR.
These are just a few of the many sketches they have, although they are far smaller than the patent ones. Although I imagine (and hope) that little by little they will add more posters and graphics related to the world of furniture and interior design.
It should be borne in mind that the posters are printed on sheets, it is not any kind of paper, as we are used to; something that makes them acquire a very suitable vintage color for many designs.
