As a personal exercise and answering various questions that come to us by mail and in comments about how to arrange furniture in a square living room, I created 15 plans with different arrangement of furniture in the living room of 20 m2. These meters and room design allow us different combinations. Some of them make the most of the available space, others not so much.
It should be noted that all plans are made with a fixed and repetitive element, such as a television cabinet on the right, so that the reader always has a fixed reference. It is natural that the layout of the TV cabinets is to taste, and the plans can be adjusted to any living room, by simply turning the furniture.
In general, to optimize the space of a square living room and, obviously, depending on the type of furniture (especially sofas), there are usually several compositions that use the space really well; In this article, we will see 15 ways, which means that some, obviously, are not made with the aim of exploiting and optimizing space. Still, it was interesting for me to work and share them. Besides, let’s look at them 15 different ways to distribute furniture in a square living room.
For those who like to watch TV as well as nap on the sofa and also eat like family in the dining room, this furniture composition with a lounger on the right if you watch it from the front and dining a hundred to 6 dinners, it may be good for you.
Without a dining table, a room that favors and invites conversation. An ideal arrangement for a social environment, with two identical sofas facing each other, a TV cabinet and a shelf in the library. The central table rounded favors circulation and flow in the room. Remember that the coffee table is set approximately 40 centimeters from the sofa, so you can move your legs comfortably and move to the sofa.
If you use the living room to watch television and little more, this telecentric arrangement is effective. Large four-seater sofa for watching TV with the family or for a comfortable nap. Two armchairs on the side of the TV cabinet facing the sofa to facilitate conversation when friends come or to turn them towards the TV, and on the back of the sofa a large library.
Obviously this is not the best distribution of furniture because by placing the sofa diagonally a lot of space is lost, but as I said before, I found it interesting and decided to share it.
With a large 3-seater sofa and two armchairs facing the faces. This arrangement works well both for comfortable watching television in a supine position and for social gatherings.
Since we are a little more practical, we have this second arrangement in which two sofas with two seats allow us to relax and watch television, with the possibility of inserting a dining table attached to the wall that can be detached when visitors come.
If we don’t want to give up anything, this furniture arrangement is designed to optimize the space available in the living room and get a large dining room to meet family and friends, as well as an area where you can watch TV and nap in a large four-seater sofa, plus two opposite armchairs to expand seating areas for guests.
Similar to the previous one, but lighter, with less furniture, which allows for more spacious passages and a less crowded dining room. If we use this composition, the back of the sofa will allow us to clearly demarcate the two areas of the dining room. For this schedule to work, you need to measure and secure it you need at least 90 inches between the sofas and a table for sliding and moving chairs with no problem.
Another arrangement that allows us to enjoy the dining table, as well as a large rest area with a large deck chair.
For social gatherings the distribution we see above these lines is perfect. The sofa-facing armchairs allow the audience to speak from the front. The table between the two seats provides comfort to the passengers, without the need to get up to the coffee table. If you use this composition, the side table must be at least 15 centimeters away from the armchair or armchair.
Another good way to distribute sofa furniture when you don’t need a dining table in the living room is the one we see above this section. It is a square distribution as well as a telecentric one.
If we manage without a dining table, the composition is more fluid with large and unobstructed passage surfaces.
This second composition offers us a favorable social environment, for chatting or watching television.
In this second composition, the space is also well used. By getting two different areas, turning the living room into a dining room.

All these compositions are made using a mesh tool, very, very easy to use and which will allow us to adapt the furniture to our living room or bedroom, thus finding the perfect distribution depending on what elements we need in our living room, called Roomstyler.
