The technique of scratching or marbling is as old as gotelé or picado, but there are still a multitude of households that have them. Therefore, we will explain in this post how the scratching technique is done on walls from scratch or simply to fix the patch.

Required materials:

Tempering for scratches or scratches.

Scratching comb.

The usual wool roller.

Make a scratch from scratch.

This staining is usually done on smooth surfaces, it is very simple, we start by applying a normal wool roller, undiluted in nature, bone marrow paste when it comes into the vessel, temper a piece of wall and give the entire height of the wall one meter wide pieces.

After the tempera is applied evenly to a piece of wall, we take a comb with iron tips to scratch and run it from top to bottom and from bottom to top, scratching any tempera that is still gentle and leaving a stripe drawing.

Once we have scratched the piece, we take the normal roller again and apply another piece of wall, and then we will go through the iron comb and so on until we are done.

Comb combs

When it dries, we can paint it with the color we want.

This has to be done in pieces, because if we applied all the temper to the wall or walls, when we wanted to pass the comb, there would be areas where the temper would have already dried and we could not make a drawing.

Drawing is usually done from top to bottom and vice versa, but it is not subject to conditions, you can do it from left to right or diagonally or as you wish.

How to fix a patch.

Imagine that your pipe broke and the plumber broke the wall to find the said pipe and fixed it, then a mason came and gave you a hole to cover it with plaster and now you have in the middle of the hallway, room, living room or location make a patch that necessary to level with the rest of the wall.

First we sand the whole patch until it becomes smooth and the edges of the patch are also sanded with sandpaper.

By lowering the edges of the patch by sanding, we achieve that, after applying hardening and scratches, the entire edge of the patch is not too bulky. For if we did not grind, we would apply temperament to an already dry nature and we would notice very ugly bumps.

Now we take the tempera and apply it to the patch area, then we take the comb and make the same drawing that the wall already had. After it dries, we repaint the paint in which the wall is.

As there are different types of combs (thicker, thinner, flat), the drawing changes depending on the comb with which it is made, first of all, we have to look at the type of comb we need, so the drawing suits me the same.

But to make sure the drawing will be the same as the old one, the best we can do is practice on cardboard or a surface that doesn’t work and that way we’ll get the same drawing.
